Soft Macworld

Yeah, I was disappointed. So, I can greet this disappointed in one of two ways.

Optimism: Saving money that I don't have to buy a new Mac.

or

Anger: The Onion

Kind of hooked: Macworld 2009

I have always been a huge Apple fan and this year I have started to really follow the rumors and rumor sites. Macworld is on right now and it is exciting. My informational weapon of choice currently is Gizmodo they ad a nice sprinkling of humor to everything they do, so that is where I am at this very second. Since I am hooked, I have been haunting Appleinsider, Macrumors and Engadget for my fix of late too.

New machines? please a quadcore 28"iMac sounds good? Fingers crossed.

File this under: Things I didn't like/didn't get. I now like and understand.

Genius Playlists in iTunes.

Yeah, it's a small thing. But man, it turns standard shuffle into a fantastically focused shuffle of good tuneage. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but, try Genius Playlists (more than once) and you'll get it.

Almost forgot...the icing on the '08 cake

2008 XCOPA fantasy baseball league champion, that'd be me.
Does that statues eyebrows resemble mine?

I guess it's time. Recap '08

Geez, what a pressure filled deal, a recap of the year in one post. Finally, the long-awaited, oft-postponed, lazy Daddy, any excuse not do get to the blog—blog post.
Here it goes. IT may fizzle and only make it to mid-year but nonetheless here IT is.

January 1, 2008: Fantastic day spent with loving relatives and friends, it's my Birthday and I got everything I wanted and then some. Not a bad way to start the new year. The rest of January was not too shabby. My Dad and sisters came to visit us in Florida, they got some much needed baby Elle time and soaked up a few rays.

February ushered in another year of Spring Training in Florida and Owen and I went to see the Mets train in Port Saint Lucie three times. It is sweet to see some of the greatest players in the game, up close.
And of course, what would February be without Valentines Day complete with Cupid one and Cupid two:

March is Owentime. And this year was no exception, he started with one fantastic space-themed birthday party and then moved onto his obsession with Star Wars. My fault I might add.

The Star Wars thing has been fun and has probably given birth to one of the funniest pictures of Owen...ever.

In April, Elizabeth and the kids went to visit the O'Connors in Arizona. Like us they moved to Florida, then back West (to Arizona), then back to Florida, so they must be friends of ours. Anyway, Elizabeth, Owen and Elle went, saw and almost got bit by a rattlesnake.
Oh yes, who could forget Easter (maybe a Muslim?), but here is the 1st annual dual kiddo pic: April '08 was the month when Owen learned the baseball term "sweet spot".And finally, he tried soccer, but like his Dad wasn't so fond of it.

Okay, we are through the first quarter, pretty mellow right?
So, onto...May.

We packed a lot into May, Disney, Aaron Travolta business trips, Justin Roberts and Mrs. Joice part 2. In Mid-May we piggy-backed one of my business trips (to Orlando) with a visit to Disney and The Orlando Science Museum. While doing a little client research and filming, Brendon and I ran into this freakish wig shop in West Orlando—and whom needs a wig more than I? I bring you Aaron Travolta:Disney infused with a bit of Owen's new obsession, Star Wars.Owen went back to his fantastic swim instructor Mrs. Joice for a few advanced strokesand then he got to sing and dance along at a Justin Roberts concert in Jensen Beach.

The camera wasn't broken in June, rather we were really at the forefront of having to make some really, really tough decisions. So, June was spent making final plans to move back to Seattle. Looking back, the whole process really sucked.

July, equally as hard as June was put on pause for Elle's first Fourth of July. Anyone that knows Elle, knows that she loves anything loud and bright, so she got a total kick out of the fireworks show over the Saint Lucie River. James and Owen thought it was pretty sweet too.

We had to say some tough goodbyes :.( , sign the final house papers, pack the kids and call the movers (F#¢k!ng movers!!!), more on them in August. sigh. So, on July 23rd the moving trailer pulls up, packs all of our earthly belongings and scuttles off to? Litterally! At least we knew where we were going, the Floydies! in West Seattle. We arrived at Pauline and Gerrads a little worse for the wear, but enthusiatic about the opportunities that the Wild West held.

August. If hell had it's own month this would be it—at least this year. We were fully expecting our movers to arrive "on or before" August first—they didn't show until the 8th or 9th (I can't remember, nor do I want to right now). This was a complete pain in the ass and kept us living out of suitcases for nearly three weeks. Not good.Really not good.
There rest of August was spent unpacking, looking for work and trying to get back up to life speed. We did get out on the water with the Floyd's and we also got to enjoy the Blue Angles up close (I wish I could of ordered a "Blue Angel air-strike" on those gaddamn movers). Um, note to self: take earplugs next year.Did I mentioned the movers really sucked. If you want to know which movers NOT to use send me an email achapman71@gmail.com and I'll glady tell you.

I did find work in August. Haven't been paid to this day for it, but I did work. Pretty simply put, August laid a terd...

Redemption was to be had in September. Sweet, Sweet, September in Seattle. The September weather in Seattle is usaully some of the best and this year was right on par. Couple the weather with landing a few sweet gigs (paying this time), sprinkle on a little camping and you have a refreshed group of Chapmans. Owen got to go on his very first camping trip (a one-day trip for Grizzly Owen) and man did he love it. Caribeener, Nalgene, S'mores, lantern mantle, Leatherman, REI, Swiss Army Knife, muck, trudge, dung, sliver and flint where just a few of the new words added to Owen's vocabulary in just one overnight camping trip.
Did I mention, he loved it?

In September, Ama and Puppa came to visit. We miss em' and wish they could of stayed forever!
Owen got to take his sister to see the lowly Mariners at Safeco. And Elizabeth had her birthday.

October was great! A lot of work for me and Elizabeth got to have a great big Halloween bash. Cuz ain't that what October is all about?

Are we there yet? only two months to go.

November. Mostly, November brought the expected Holiday and the growing anticipation of Owen, Elizabeth and Elle going to Florida in December for a family visit.
Novemeber said goodbye to one Owen's favorite museums, the Seattle Maritime Museum (I think he went twice in November). But, Owen got to enjoy another Justin Roberts concert, this time with Liam.

Can you say cabin fever? at least that is how I felt in December. Elizabeth and the Chillin left on the fourth of December for Florida, work slowed a bit and the snow came. not once, but twice.Elle was in her glory during December, she went to Florida, lounged poolside and learned how to walk.Elle turned one (I love that baby!) twice. One party in Florida:and one here in Seattle.
It snowed again...and then fittingly Santa came to town.

We rounded out the year with a stay at home New Years celebration, per my request and well, Elizabeth wasn't feeling all that hot either. Probably a good idea, judging by all of the moving and shaking we did in 2008. We love and thank everyone that helped us through this wild year.

Here's to a Happy and prosperous 2009 for all.

-Cheers
